7 Things You Must Know About Your DJ Business Cards

DJ Business Cards are CRUCIAL to your Mobile Deejaying Business!  For starters, they are the first sign that you have a real, legitimate business on your hands!  Without ‘em, what have you got?  (nothing.)

DJ Business CardsBut secondly, your DJ business card is the 1st impression your client has of you and your business.  How’s the quality?  The design?  The presentation?  Is your potential client impressed, or are they throwing your card away as soon as you turn around?  So  much rides on your DJ Business Card, so let’s go ahead and take a closer look into what exactly your cards need to have.

The Mobile DJ Business Card:

Let’s take a look at the 7 Essential Elements you need on your DJ Business Card if you want to “WOW” your clients!

1.  Business Card Quality
What’s the quality of your card?  Is it thick and waxy, or dull and thin?  This is where you need to dish out a bit more on your card to get the better quality card stock.  Avoid FREE or budget-cheap business card companies online and just go to your local printer…and ask to see other samples first!

2.  Your Name
Your name is the most important thing on the card!  It is a label as to who you are and what you do!  Make your name the biggest and put it in a font that is clear and easy to read (Arial is a good fint choice)

3.  Your Phone Number
How are clients supposed to get ahold of you?  Your phone number (hopefully it’s a business line) is the best choice, because it’s a direct line of communication to YOU.  So make it big and bold and easy to read!

4.  Your Website

Your website is the next most important element of your business card…why?  Well, for starters, you get to show off that you actually have one!  (A BIG differentiator from the competition!)  But also, people love to “spy” on you and do a background check.  More than half the time, they will visit your website BEFORE calling you.  If they like what they see, they’ll call!

5.  Email
Email is really optional.  It isn’t as direct as the telephone, and it will most likely be located on your website.  But it doesn’t hurt to have your email address here, so add it if you have the room.  You can get away with it being a lot smaller.

6.  Descriptive Image
Do you have an image on your card that visually described you and your business?  Can people tell exactly what you do in less than 3 seconds of looking at your card?  A DJ image of any kind is ideal here.  ALSO, how is the overall design of your card?  Is it clean?  Professional?  Artistic?  Impressive?

7.  The Backside
Business cards are double-sided and I love to take advantage of the backside!  This is an opportunity for you to add any additional information you would like…this could be a picture of you, your social networking sites, a short description of you and your company, or anything else!  Don’t take for granted the backside of your business card!

Word-of-Mouth Advertising:

So many DJs I talk to, (including myself) will attest that the majority of their business comes from Word-of-Mouth and referrals.  So, what exactly is Word-of-Mouth and how do we harness this powerful advertising strategy?  In a nutshell, it’s “the buzz” created about YOU!  Anytime you work an event, every guest in attendance has the potential to rant and rave about you and your performance!  They can tell their friends, neighbors, and family members.  Everyone wants to say they “know a guy.”  So let that guy(or gal) be YOU!

So how do use Word-of-Mouth to our Advantage?

Although it is the most-effective marketing strategy in existence (we believe the opinions of trusted ones over businesses!), it can be the hardest to control.  We can’t make anyone talk about you or share our business information.  BUT, there are a few things that we can do such as EXCEL at what we do, network with others, and pass out our business cards.

You see, your DJ Business Card is a tool to help encourage Word-of-Mouth Advertising.  It makes spreading your good name quicker and easier!  So…that translates into the following:

  • Always have business cards on you!
  • Leave extra cards in your car!
  • Pass them out to everyone!
