Do you need DJ Insurance?

dj_guard_graphic_designThe DJ Insurance Question: Do we reeeally need it?  We tend to ignore the boring business stuff, ESPECIALLY when we are just starting out and we have enough biz costs as it is! Here is my strong advice on DJ Insurance:

1.  DON’T let the lack of insurance stop you from getting started

I see a lot of DJs find excuses for not getting started.  “I don’t have insurance yet” is a GREAT excuse!  You don’t NEED insurance to start DJing!  If you can’t afford the cost yet, let your first few events pay for it.

2.  Don’t IGNORE Insurance!!

It is sooo worth getting insurance for your equipment for many reasons, so do not put it off long.  Re-invest into your business with one of the most valuable costs you can have.  You really never no what can happen at an event (or on the way to an event!)

I’ve heard horror stories of DJ’s arriving late and a guest tries to help them unload the van and ends up dropping their laptop or doing something stupid.  When you have +100 drunk guests around expensive electronics, you can’t risk it!

Where to get Insurance:

adjalogomedI highly recommend becoming a member of the American Disc Jockey Association and getting insurance through them:

It’s only like $150 for a million dollar policy.  It is nothing!
